As we all participate in social distancing due to the outburst of a global pandemic, family bonding has taken a front seat in our life. Everyone has been staying home for weeks for the safety of themselves and their family. This has been a blessing in disguise for families to spend time together. People are taking this time to bond with their loved ones. Isolation has become family bonding time.
In the bustle of daily life we often forget to spend time with family due to clashing routines and busy schedules. Now that we are all forced to stay together and spend time with each other the love and bonding has increased. Families are working together as a team to fight the pandemic and manage the house.
There are so many ways to bond and spend quality time together. Families are now enjoying meals together, which did not happen often enough before. They are trying new recipes, playing board games, going through old photo albums, watching movies, working out and so much more. Parents with younger kids are finding new ways to teach their children, older kids are helping out with household chores – it’s become a new and improved way to spending quality time and catching up on all the lost moments taken away from the hassle of daily life.
This is a great time for everyone to share their feelings and talk about themselves. Everyone is going through a rough time due to the pandemic and we all need to support each other. During these days it is important to set a routine that everyone can follow together to ensure everyone spends time together instead of being locked up in their respective rooms. It’s also important to hear each other out, avoid arguments and help each other get through this time together. Majority of families will be sure to come out of this stronger.
There is not a wiser investment than spending quality time with your family. Family is a collective term, it is not just a couple of individuals living together under one roof, but a group of people who are connected together and share the good as well as the bad.
The benefits of family bonding during such a time are multifold. Family bonding can strengthen each relationship on a personal level as well as the relationship of the entire family. It helps people come together and be strong for each other. Family time can help with the child’s academic performance, lessen behavioral problems, instill a sense of self-confidence, decrease violence and drug abuse and offer more chances of success. The feeling of belonging and unconditional support motivates everyone in a house to make it a home and stand for each other. Spending family time can help each other be better, and grow together as human beings.
While the physical affection has been paused, take this time to create an emotional and spiritual connection with your loved ones.
